I smell a "justifed" excuse for state-sponsored racial stereotyping.

Yes, I know all the arguments for why it is a good idea and why it's not a form of racism, etc. However, it's very uncomfortable that someone innocent can be a de facto suspect and be treated differently just based on their skin color. It makes me glad that I don't look at all like an Arab.

i wonder sometimes how it became an us against them situation. the poor guy even has a normal american (irish actually) name. and yeh i am sure some stupid terrorist can probably recite something learned to look true, but come on! they'd be more likely to be in the tour group not on their own.

i for one am ashamed of the behavior of these officers.

yeh i get scared at the park when a whole bunch of african american men are running around, but i get scared when a whole bunch of white men are running around too. it depends on their actions, not their skin.

What about John Walker Lind- the American Taliban, slightly less whitebread than Timothy McVeigh. He did turn down the offer to attack on U.S. soil but the potential was there.

Oh that al queda guy captured in Pakistan last week- He appeared to be African.

One of the biggest terror busts on U.S. soil in the last few years was a bunch of white supremists in Texas who had guns, bombs, bio-agents and chemicals.

It seems to me the only understandable paranoia is of everyone. It is evident that terrorists come in every color.
