The Enchanted Isle

Being the twenty-sixth chapter of Stackman’s adventures

In which the adventurers rest in the shadow of the oldest tree in the Gael Serran and in which the party to the pleasure of most turns the leprechaun to a cinder.

The sun was setting and the sky was ablaze with the most beautiful and warm colours. The evening was relatively hot considering the fact that it was late summer and that it was a seaside town. The party had just stepped out of Sabastio’s shop and they were rubbing their bleary eyes and yawning.

From early morning they had visited the warriors guild handing over the shield taken from Goshin thus completing the second of three quests given by the that guild. They had then undertaken the “kill Ramakamil of Wyr” quest. Thus ended the second of three quests given by the warrior guild of Brimloch Roon.

In the wizards guild they had been commended for killing Mada Mabbig. They had then undertaken the “Living tree seed quest”. There was a problem concerning this quest. The seeds were found in the inventory of bark horrors. These were, however, only known to spawn on the Isle of Sands in the Lost Sea. To get there in the “legitimate” manner they would have to go through Anephas’s Shrine thus shattering the aegis sealing its entrance. This would again render them unable to achieve the “shatter aegis” quest given by the wizards guild. There were three ways to circumvent this problem: 1) They could tree surf over to the Lost Sea, retrieve the seeds and then return (as explained by Sazerac on Page Two of the Best Tips and at Xignal’s Site). 2) They could “vanish” past the aegis into the shrine and go that way through (as explained by Radek in a topic on the subject). 3) They could get the one seed found on the old tree Oakenmir and then propagate the seed using the drop and shop bug (as explained by Whiteknight and elaborated by Greidee in two different posts on Page Eight of the Best Tips). And, well… Then there was the unofficial fourth way which the adventurers used: The adventurers had kept plenty of seeds from the last game which they gave to Sabastio. Having thus completed the “living seed” quest the party then undertook the “shatter aegis” quest. Thus ended the first and second of three quests given by the wizard guild of Brimloch Roon.

The party meandered slowly down the sloping paved road leading to the wharf where they spent the remaining hour before the sun had completely set and the last ray of sunlight had finally waned. The bard’s baritone voice could be heard far into the lagoon as he sang a song with just a tinge of melancholy.

The next couple of weeks the party spent traveling north across the Enchanted Sea. They kept to the east shore to where it finally bent to the west. They eventually crawled up on an inviting beach. Lying in the sand resting from the last hour’s swim the party was suddenly ambushed by the centaur Gineleng. He had just raised his hooves to kick the warlock when the zenmaster incinerated him.

In a grove nearby they came upon the ancient tree Oakenmir. He regaled the party with a few highlights from his life which had been longer than most. He also gave them a complete account of the tales of Anephas and Cet.

Traveling further to the west the party came upon another grove with a statue resembling those of Kerah and the Altars of Serran. It was the Fountain of Isis, but unfortunately it had run dry. No eternal life there – but who would need it when one had the “Reset Adventure” button. ?

The party traveled southward again, and after three days they came to an opening in the overgrown lyme grass to the west. It was the Enchanted Isle. A few kilometres up on dry land they encountered the wizard Ramakamil. He was soon laid to rest. They also encountered a few mytharian wysps. These flying beasts were perhaps the most dangerous of all monsters with their dementia and reflect damage spells. They had posed a real threat to the party in some relatively recent games. But this time around the party was at such a level that they needed not fear.

They also encountered the fabled leprechaun. He was as usual taunting party for their alleged inability to catch him. It was possible to teleport him behind the walls of Brimloch Roon and other tight spots, but he would still be able to teleport himself back to the Enchanted Isle So the best way to get the leprechaun would be to hit him with multiple incinerate spells. Of course there was no real reason to kill him since the completion of the “find proof of leprechaun” quest was not dependent upon his death. However, the leprechaun would yield quite a lot of experience points. Furthermore there was a veritable public demand on the Ironworks Forum that he be silenced, since many found him quite irritating. This the party was reminded of by the reproaching look Stackman gave them when they teleported back to Brimloch Roon. Stackman had been waiting for them on the pier.

In the armoury the party was commended for having killed Ramakamil and thus ended the third and last quest given by the warrior guild of Brimloch Roon. In the temple the party received their reward for having found the Fountain of Isis. The party then undertook the “Relic of Isis” quest and thus ended the first of three quests given by the priest guild of Brimloch Roon. At Town Hall Duke Brinsly commended the party for having killed Gineleng. He then gave the party the “kill Hydra” quest and thus ended the first of two quests given by the governor.

The party teleported back to the Enchanted Isle and killed the leprechaun. AND THERE WAS MUCH REJOICING AT THE IRONWORKS. The party then proceeded to a narrow channel of water leading from the Enchanted Isle.

Rejoice Rejoice!!

hehehe Oh it is a little sad that the leprechaun is soooooo annoying that players do rejoice to see him done in! I did off him in one game but reloaded once I realized that I didn't need to kill him. He is good target practice at the very least.

Keep them coming, bsftcs!!!

Good stuff! The leprechaun is most annoying when he's running around with your arrows sticking out of him... your enchanted arrows sticking out of him... your LAST enchanted arrows sticking out of him...

Awaiting more...
