You should put your portraits in: C:\Program Files\Black Isle\SoA\portaits.

create the directory yourself.

and i heartily recommend getting shadowkeeper for changing portraits. with it you can join the ranks of those of us who spend every free moment searching for new portraits so that we can make everyone in our party look like movie stars. or old skool DnD games or chars from our favorite books.

http://www.mud-master.com/shadowkeeper/

also the home of gatekeeper (for bg1) and dalekeeper (for iwd).

V***V

ps: make sure you spell portraits correctly, tho.

and, my directory addy (default upon installation) is:

C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\portraits

I don't believe you have to. Just open up the BGII folder, and there should be a 'portraits' folder already there. Just plop the portraits in there, and your done.
