Hey Marty,

Nope, you're not just posting to yourself, but I'm trying not to spoil myself (too much ) and I haven't got any further than the Ice Temple yet. I should be able to add more to these discussions by the end of January, as that's my target date to finish the game.

I'm interested to hear how you operate - do you have any of the autopause options turned on, or do you just point this party at an enemy and let fly?

Good luck to finish by January, and thanks for the support!

I don't pause much, but neither do I point and click. My battles are a fast paced burst of fireballs, emotions, skull traps, and other AoE spells, followed by a sword rush with paladins, preferably all with protection from evil and draw upon holy might. This is the reason why I think HoF will be fun: I almost never take the time for a session of buffs. If I do, then that will even out the gap of skill in HoF.

I am currently about to face the final battle, and my guys are ready to rumble. With items, my CS wielding paladin criticals about 1/2 of all of his hits, and never misses (with my luck bonuses, he can't even roll a 1!). My other guys have gotten just about all of the powerful items (Loops, drakkas' chain, field plate) that I have sought after, minus (to my dismay) the massive greataxe of flame. I may import that in when I go HoF and "trade" away items that I feel are equal in worth to it.

No boss update today, the fights are too fast to keep up with. I will tell of one noteworthy fight however, and its just about spoiler free.

Hatemaster:
To be spoiler free, this was a room filled with fighters, half dragons, and many, many priests. I also mistakenly entered with no buffs! I quickly put up an emotion of hope and mass haste, then threw a few fireballs and rushed in. My 6 warriors SHREDDED the room! Now usually this is a difficult fight. This time around, I don't think it lasted a minute.

My notes:

IMO the two best (or at least most fun ) spells in the game are Mordenkainen's sword and Emotion Hope... especially with each other.

Even with such a combat heavy party, I don't regret not taking a bard. The fights are too demanding to have 1/6 of my guys sitting around singing, and emotions make up for that.

My two fighters and buffer cleric haven't been leveled up since Dragons Eye! They are still at fighter4/paladin8, fighter4/paladin8, and Paladin7/cleric5. I could level them up 4 times each, but the extra experience generated by this has gotten my mages to amazing levels of power (lvl 15 sorceress!).

Since money isn't transfered into HoF, I have raided every shop for their best items and have 2 bags of holding filled with the goods! I cant wait to buy the G______ H______

I can't wait either. However, I have a problem called a "little brother" who insists on having the computer right now (I am using a family computer). Tomorrow will be a big day for the Dale

Hmmm there maybe a little problem...

When you import your characters from normal to HoF i don't think you can take any container bags or any container of any sort to the new game...

Nope, that's why he only carries them for now. As soon as he beats the game, he's probably gonna ditch all his gems, quest items and potions and buy as much enchanted weapons, ammo and armors as he can. I find bolts to be of particular use when exporting, as they've got a great price for a small weight.
And yes, I also lurk in this thread, nice read it is.

Or at least NOW he will, since now he knows that

I am having a ***** of a time agains I and M! I think I am either not fighting them correctly, or I am having a similar glitch to what happened to me with Sherry a while ago (insane damage reduction). Basically, they both have 20 damage reduction to everything and magic immunity. Is this normal? I don't remember having this trouble in my last game... Also, whenever I pre-buff using Holy Aura, it is dispelled when the fight starts, making my guys easy prey to blasphemy. Why is that?

So far, I've had a couple of close tries. My only method is rushing I with all my guys and hope to disrupt his improved invisibility, and that SOMETIMES allows me to get to the next phase of the fight. However, in that phase M's blasphemy makes me get shredded by the slayer knights. Suggestions?

Le partay:

fighter4/paladin13
fighter4/paladin13
paladin7/cleric10
paladin2/cleric15
rogue1/ranger1/paladin1/mage13
paladin2/sorceress15

Seems as though I should be able to beat them. All of my guys have great items including the CS, powerful armor, nice shields, some enchanted helms, etc. I am stumped.

POSSIBILITY OF SPOILERS!!! BEWARE!!!
Well, if you're heavy on paladin feats(and it seems you are), ignore I and go after M. Why? Well, Heretic's Bane and Fiendslayer are both applied against her, and you might disrupt her Blasphemy. Also, Negative Energy Protection comes in handy versus Succor blades that I has. And magic Resistance applies to Blasphemy. Hmm, what else could you use... Don't even bother against the summons, they will always spawn. It might be a good idea to kill off the mages behind the walls, they're also summoning some creatures. Just keep M busy with the Paladins(the guys that have the most Paladin levels) and the Sorc and Mage casting Mord's Force Missles and Sword. If you can't make it with these hints... try again

Thanks for the tips, but I defeated I using a forgotten item at the bottom of my bag o' holding: scroll of protection from magic

Anyway, I'm in Targos in HoF mode now. How do you get experience anymore? The goblins are giving squat, the quests are giving the same as in normal mode, and the doppleganger gave me less than 500! Where does the xp come from?

Well if you're not keen on using Ease of Use to add more logic to the XP table, the XP comes from a bunch of places. In small amounts, yes, but enemies are much more powerfull, and numerous(up to 4 times as many enemies). The thing is, they intended the HoF for a far lower level(15) than the level with which you actually beat the game with(cca 19), and the nerfed XP table sets in. Eventually, you will get to about 26th level with a 6-man party in vanilla IWD2.
