Hi there.
I played through icewind dale a couple of years ago. Just recently I installed heart of winter. But I didn't want to use my old party, I thought it would be much more fun to create a new one. But I was warned against creating a new in HoW-game only, as lvl9 was recommended. Well, I wanted to try anyway, and created a new party. I managed to level a decent amount on verbal quests alone before my first combat, but found my initial combat very hard. Just the fact that nobody sold armor in the start-town was very frustrating. So I therefore wondered if anyone else had managed to complete HoW with a lvl 1-party, and how hard it is. So therefore I joined this forum. But while I waited for approval, I've already completed HoW... I found that the game was not so very hard after I had gone past the burial isle-stage. (those drowned deads were hard indeed) Well, not a very long expansion that one... anyone other who has completed HoW-only with starting a new party? |

Welcome to Ironworks!
I hadn't considered a new party starting in Lonleywood not having adequate equipment. There are some merchants stuck in town, so I suppose I could always edit a dialogue file, create a store, and give new parties a place from which to purchase normal armor, weapons, etc. On the other hand, magical equipment is relatively easy to find there, so rapid improvement is possible.
