So what's the verdict? Is IWD II worthy of the franchise? Does the 3rd Ed rule set balance or break the game? Bottom line, is it worth the price?

So what about the terrible pathfinding were all hearing about? Have they patched that yet .... i cant go back to characters that wander away aimlessly after Baldurs Gate 2
I said i'll hold off on buying it until i see the reviews...and from what people say it looks pretty nifty [ 09-05-2002, 06:24 AM: Message edited by: SpiritWarrior ]

If you liked the original IWD, you'll love the sequel. Save the world from the evil menace, loot every container and watch your biceps grow bigger and bigger and bigger. As usual, excellent strategic fighting and character micromanagment.
IMHO, IWD2 is much better than the NWN single-player campaign. It looks like the painful pathing problem is caused by bad map design: there's way too much bottlenecks (passages where only 1-2 characters can go at the time). They had fixed this in BG2, but it looks like they forgot their lesson.

Epic battles too.
Not a game for newbies, someone who has never played CRPGs and has no knowledge of D&D will have to handle a steep learning curve. But if you do not belong to this category, and you like 3rd edition rules and the infinity engine it is a most have. The pathfinding is not that bad. It is not worse than IWD 1 and BG 2 IMHO.
