Default Drakensang: The Complete Saga... Is it worth it?

The title pretty much says it all. This game came up in my amazon recommendations. It looks pretty good visually, but is it any good gameplay wise?

Is it worth it? Absolutely. Especially if you're a fan of party based cRPGs and like a different pen and paper styled system with some fun, unique character design. The Drakensang games are very wholesome and refreshing in nature; with an almost fairy tale like atmosphere. A nice break from the 'dark n gritty' of recent AAA games.

Whilst the first game has the better options for party dynamics and variety, the second game River of Time has the deeper, well told narrative. They're also very slow and deliberate games in terms of pacing and combat - something that's not for everyone, but definitely a reason I liked them so much. The closest game I can really use to compare would be NWN 2, though the two games are very different in nature as well.

The Dark Eye as it is called, was also in a successful German series of games called the Realms of Arkania.

If you like the sound of what I've described, grab that collection whilst you can. Or at least playtest yourself with the Drakensang demo and see what you think. I think roleplaying fans and party based fans are missing out if they don't at least check out the demo. I had much more fun with River of Time than I did with the pile of drek that was Dragon Age 2 for example.
