There is ONE other way to get ring of wizardry (no pickpocket) without killing one of your apprentices (good chance). If you do the harper quest with jaheira she will be summoned to the harper hold and then a day later will return to your party. She will ask you go to the harper hold where you will have a showdown with galvery. The ring will be one his body. This ring rocks. The ring of fire resistance is one the rakasha in the fisrt level of the dragon ruins in windspear hills. The staff of the magi is on the woman mage in the twisted rune quest (bridge district in back of lich's house with rouge stone)

I've only ever got two pairs of boots of speed (Paws of the Cheetah) in the four times i've played (are there more, if so where? i've never killed Renal Bloodscalp so maybe thats one pair.) I got a pair of speed boots from the planar sphere and the other one of them came from the mithril machine. As for the Boots of lightning speed, well, who wants em?

Boots of Lightning Speed
These modified boots of speed were originally intended to boost the wearer's speed rating to even greater rates than normal boots of speed. They make the wearer as fast as if a haste spell had been cast upon someone wearing boots of speed. Unfortunately the wearer cannot attack and the strain of rushing around so fast quickly tires even the most stalwart of heroes. Their nick-name is 'Heel of the Coward', for that summarizes their most obvious use: running away.

You can't? I never tried it in BG2, because I hate the fact that you will be fatigued after the spell wears off, but in BG1 I used it all the time, and if I was wearing boots of speed and my whole party was hasted, I went twice as fast as they did!

Yes you can, and improved haste too, im pretty sure of it. The boots only increase movement, the spells increase movement and attack speeds. Anyone know for 100%?
