Dark humour for dark times

One of the unexpected consequences of the 9/11 attacks in the United States is an upsurge in humour by and about Muslims, which has begun to be enjoyed by a wider American audience.
I think this is encouraging..

Generally, a good article. I'd certainly like to check out their show.

However, this bit pissed me off:

with a statue of a Confederate soldier and a Confederate flag - that symbol of slavery
For an author writing about diversity and culture and appreciating different views, he needs one good square punch in his big nose for this bit of ignorance. Yeah, that's all the South ever was -- slavery. Idiot. Slavery's not even the root cause of the Civil War, but rather one of many causes. Idiot.

AND the issue of slavery can be easily classified as a subset of the real issue, states' rights.

Talk about a neo-liberal interpretation of history.

I think it is a good thing, as far as I can tell there are two ways of looking at things that go on in the world - You can laugh or you can cry, I have always laughed (and while it has made me seems a bit cold hearted at times) I think that it is the best way of looking at things.
