... sucks slurps and swallows.

I have tried a LOT of solutions, but cannot get rid of this damned bug. Please help. the only way I can stomach being online from home is to run AdAware when I turn on my computer -- that stops the annoying SpySweeper popups telling me that this boil on my butt has yet again changed my homepage.

PLEASE HELP!!! I need a permanent solution (that doesn't involve a hammer)!!!!

ask larry cuz he knows several anti-spyware stuff and try spybot as well.

adaware doesnt get every little bugger. did you update it as well? get a firewall to help ya against those nasty intrusions.

Light Bulb

The new spybot features a homepage lockdown, and some other hijacking preventers. 1.3 is a NEW download, you can't get it through the updating feature of the old versions.

Do you have different profiles on the computer in question? If you are running ad aware, and it rids your computer of the problem temporarily, but the problem comes back after you reboot, it may be that the problem is hiding under the other profile(s). Run each program under each profile. I've used this approach to solve recurring problems.

Oh yeah, and quit going to all those porn sites you wanker!

Getting the current versions of AdAware and Spybot helps. As Ronn pointed out, the automatic updates won't load a new version of the engine, just a new version of the rules.

You might also want to check out HiJack This. HJT gives you a list of suspicious critters, which you can then act on. It will let you know what things are running in your registry and then let you get rid of the ones you don't want.

This exact combination isn't working for me. I'll try updating spybot.

I forgot HiJackThis. Maybe I used a registry cleaner as well. I remember having a lot of trouble with windows restore. It kept on getting the stuff back after reboot. Maybe you have that turned on?
