they said you could dis-associate the file types, then it wouldn't run the files automatically. The warning means there is the potential to have this happen, not that it is happening. BUT, it said it could be linked to run "arbitrary code", which means if it did, it could be commanded to do just about anything. Its pretty sad that there are people out there who make things like this a problem, when they could be using their programming ability for a much nobler solution: VIDEO GAMES!!!!

lol leave the guy with the old version alone. Sometimes newer versions just plain aren't better. I like 5.X more than 3.X, but 2.XX better than 3.X

I forgot whether I like 2.XX better than 5.XX. Clear? lol It crashed less and loaded faster, just had weird issues with alphabetizing for some reason lol.

What's so good about the newer version? Anything noticeable that I should know about? My 2.75 works perfectly for me.

Well, in 3 version numbers, a program can go through alot. There have been alot of bugfixes (I don't know any details though). There have been some security fixes, as reported by Secunia (follow the links from the advisory in the first post - it's there somewhere). It has died and risen. Other than that, look around the site for a changelog.

This flaw has now been upped to "Extremely Critical" by Secunia, as working exploits are known to exist.

But it's not three version numbers, winamp updater version 3 and combined it with version 2, so version 2+3=5. Version 5 is really version 4.
Also, by my understanding, i'm not succeptable to said bugs because of my lower version number, so what bug fixed are you reffering to?

It is potentially susceptable. It just hasn't been confirmed on the earlier versions. Note that the advisory says The vulnerability has been reported in version 5.05 and confirmed in version 5.06. Prior versions may also be affected.
