Hi,
New to the group. I'm on chapter 3 and all my characters spell casting ability has been greyed out on the icon bar. I can't restore this by clerics or in temples. Any one know why this is?

Cheers

Hi! welcome to the best board ever!
This is because your character is wearing armour that prevents spell casting!

Thanks,

Normally the game warns me that the character would loose its spell casting ability if I give them specific armour. I dont remember getting any such warning... Does it apply to rings, gems etc.?

some armours don't affect your spell casting abilities, such as robes. So try wearing a robe, they do offer some kind of protection. Or just take off your armour and cast spells.
And yeah, this is the best BGII forum around

Yea and you should remember that armors are for fighters and robes are for mages or sorcerers...

It's odd that it is all your spellcasters. Check that they haven't got any armour. Other possibilities:

You may have been level drained to a low level, then forgotten to reallocate spells to your spell slots upon being restored?

You may have used up all your spells and not slept in a while?

You may have had a silence or deafness spell cast on your group?

Check your spell book to see what you've got memorised.
