Hi everyone,

I am very busy with uni this week and wont be able to send any installments for a couple of days. For those who have been reading, thanks so much for your support and I will work hard to get three new installments out to you hopefully in a couple of days, I promise!

For now, enjoy the latest act

Hi everyone,

Is anybody still paying attention to these installments? Just wondering whether or not to bother making them or not lol.

Also, if i return to Baldur's Gate with a Rep of 1, will the priests be hostile?

I'm enjoying it. My one complaint is that it's kind of reading like the Baldur's Gate novels...

ABDEL SMASH! ABDEL KILL! ABDEL RUTHLESS AND MASSACRE YOU TOO.

Just a thought.

Oh, I am reading and enjoying, keep it up, never played an evil character thru the series so wondering how it will pan out.

Yeah it's difficult serving the character and trying to keep a bit of room for character development (it's harder with a chaotic evil character...)

How do I avoid doing what your suggesting lol ??

Yes I'm still reading it. I echo Illumina's point though. I'm glad that your isn't invincible and you have had him wounded, but it'd be nice to see him develop further and begin to use his head as well as his axe/sword. Give him some potions of fireball or something too

Less brute force and more sneaky is the way to go, I think. You've got an excellent chance with the bandit camp too.

Thank you very much mate.

Funny you suggest fireball potions because they will be coming soon enough.

Also, you've guessed a future development in Merick that i've saved for later lol. Yes, his proficencies will develop.

Please share your ideas like this if you have any There are alot of scenes and any ideas are welcome to keep the story innovative and fresh

Your suggestion has completely changed the way i was planning to write the bandit camp!

Thanks so much everyone for reading

I'll hit ya with another installment or two later k!

Your suggestion has completely changed the way i was planning to write the bandit camp![/QB]
Ideas, hmm. Depending on what you want him to be able to do, if you aren't planning on sticking strictly to the rules, I would suggest multi - or dual - classing him, perhaps to a thief, or giving him a berserker kit or something. That though, depends on whether you intend to stick to your original concept of him being a solo-fighter and how much attention you place in 'classes'.

A fighter can be quite intelligent and act as a weapons specialist/master too, so perhaps that is something you might consider. Give him a sense of finesse over raw, brute strength. Or, perhaps you could make him cunning; using the tools he has available, such as under cover of darkness for example. Sneaking around at night is great if he wants to avoid attention. You could even have him sneak past a couple of Flaming Fist guards who are out hunting for bandits or the like (perhaps an encounter with Viconia?) because they can't see him. Alternatively, depending on how destructive he's feeling, he could set a few houses/inns/towns/cities/realms... alight to serve as a distraction. Okay, there is a potential reputation loss, but if it is an accident, who will know it is him? Besides, he promised to destroy a couple of towns (such as the halfling village and Nashkel). Fire's a wonderful way to achieve that. So generally, my advice would be to stop viewing it as a game and more as what you could do in real-life or PnP. Just because you're using the game as a basis, it doesn't mean you have to restrict/limit yourself to its mechanics/rules.

Cloakwood mines is a great example of that. While the game allows you to flood it, you could always plant explosives (or the like. I'm sure there are magical runes, a fusing on a bottle/potion of fireball or something) to collapse it and blackmail ol' whatshisname Devaeron(I think) rather than face him without having any tricks up your sleeve. Just little things like that to give your character an edge he lacks in game. Negotiation and the like (or should I say "intimidation") can be far more effective than a simple blade in the gut - which you've already started to have Merick display. And of course, once you have what you need... there's nothing to stop you from planting that blade in your victim's gut, o scion of Murder.

There are a few ideas at least, I'd write more but its getting late and my brain's becoming foggy. If you'd like, I'm sure I can think up a few more suggestions. Maybe Merick could encounter a caravan or two on his way north? Include a couple of interesting sideplots or something. Face down a basilisk and have his sword reflect their gaze or the like. Just small things make a huge difference.

Enjoying the read btw! Keep going .

Edit: Because I just thought of this when I logged off. You can always implement your own Bhaalspawn abilities. For example, instead of taking horror (although you could take that one since it seems pretty IC), you could take say "hold person". If you really want, you could take say, "poison" (although that’s a level 4 spell) instead of the vampiric touch. Or 'berserker rage' or the like. It'll keep your character different and although spells don't make him unique in and of themselves, how he uses them will define him I think. I hope none of this sounds too pretentious - it isn't intended to be.
