I hate Minsc - Page 2

In a good party, I always have Minsc, but in an Evil party, I keep Korgan. He can kick Minsc's ass in a couple of seconds. His grand mastery in axe and his later use of Crom Faer makes him the best fighter in the game.

Well Valygar got insanely good wielding Celestrial Fury and his own Katana
Killing about 20% in my party
which is very special as i have a magic based party
(actually only Edwin and my own were better then Valygar)

I gave Minsc Gauntlets of Dexterity. I found that allows him to wield two-handed weapons without the need of a shield and still have an excellent Thac0.

how can you people say this about him... he's a really good fighter both with twohand swords... bows and dualwielding with flail of ages and celestial fury for example...

Tancred: of course, you can do that, but I always preferred to give the gauntlets to someone with a really bad dexterity like Keldorn to maximize their effect.

Dafan, I am not saying that Minsc cannot be an effective fighter dual-wielding or
with a two-handed weapon, but in my experience if he does he gets hit far too often. For me the main objective for my tanks is not to get hit that often, so that they stay healthy and can stay upfront, where they belong, to protect the spellcasters. For me dual-wieldind/two-handed weapons vs fighting with a shield is a trade-off between either dealing out more damage and taking more damage or the inverse constellation of dealing out less damage, but also taking less. And I have always opted for the latter.

Why would people give Minsc a katana when he has no starting proficiency points. If you want someone to use the celestial fury, take Valygar.

I dont use Valygar... Aerie uses staff of magi... Keldorn use talking sword or bow... Minsc use flail og ages and celestial fury or bow.. Me holyavenger... Nalia use blade of roses and the drinker and jaheira use a sling or staf of rynn... a +3 katana is good to dualwield with and specially celestial fury

by the way ramon.. Minsc don't get hit that much.. most of his enemys gets stunned after first getting slowed by his magicalweapons
