If some of you were wondering where the bin Laden toilet paper and the MasterCard terrorist parody threads have gone, I've deleted them due to the possibility that they may prove offensive to some members of our community. I'm letting you all know as it's part of MY policy to let you know what threads I delete. As a moderator I should have known better.This thread will provide more details.

Once again, apologies - it was certainly not my intention to cause offense.

Personally, I think that if it offends the intended targets, that just means it was done correctly!

Don't be silly!

Those were great!

That's the problem with the world today, not only in the US, everyone is too concerned with making anyone else feel bad.

I appreciate your reasons, but please...

"The Martyr" (excerpt)

There is sobbing of the strong,
And a pall upon the land;
But the People in their weeping
Bare the iron hand:
Beware the People weeping
When they bare the iron hand.

--Herman Melville (written after the assasination of President Abraham Lincoln)

Ronn, i cannot remember seeing that melville quote before, it is excellent, thank you for putting it up for us to see and remember that this great nation has faced greater threats in the past, and all of them are only footnotes in the history books now.

I think it's great, too, but I can't claim credit for applying it to this situation.

I saw it on someone elses signature and thought it was neat. Later when I decided to add it to mine, I searched online and found a create Melville site(thanks google).

It's certainly better than my old sig which said, "An elevator smells different to a dwarf." Ah, those were simpler times....
