The trouble is, you can't legislate morality. That's why, despite all the chest-beating, American's still consume more porn than anyone else in the world.
The truth hurts, but the demand is there... |

I'd also point out that the link you point out seems to be very biased. Claiming statistics from a sample defined as "55 women who sought help from the Council for Prostitution Alternatives" is going to be horribly biased. Calling the report of those statistics a "fact sheet" is BS. [ 05-07-2005, 10:03 PM: Message edited by: Seraph ] |

It gives oral exam a whole new meaning doesn't it? And it cannot be the oldest profession. Someone had to earn something to pay the prosteture with first. I'd say second oldest probably.
Prostetution is not a crime. We have had legal prostetution since the mid 60'es and there are no problems associated with it.

I'm not saying this view is good or bad, just that it is the way things are over here. There are a couple of places where prostitution has been legalized. Nevada has a legitimate prostitution house (in Reno, IIRC) and I believe there may be one or two other examples where individual cities have legalized it. Prostitution will never go away. Johnny and the others are right about the demand for the "product" being offered. But the religious mindset of our country will prevent it from ever being legalized across the nation. Again, not saying this is right or wrong, just that this is the way it is.
