You have to hate that.......
Was playing for over two hours, going thru skull castle and finding some real neat stuff, i had not seen before. Amulet of the dragon, and some other stuff that elludes my frustrated mind now, when my PC crashed. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Ok, someone point to the WALLY who forgot to save his game. IT WAS MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Well, time for a break. Morguemaus PS: Has anyone else found that the centaurs drop some neat stuff when you kill them? Found some ninja and assasin garb + 3. Got to be happy for that, at least |

Oh well, I uderstand your feeling. What happened? Did the game hang the computer (it's normal save, save, save,...) or did the computer disintegrate because of overaging? A few notes.
1. The Heart of the Dragon is a "fixed" treasure. You will find it again at the same place. You haven't lost it. 2. The centaurs can drop not only assassin robes but also Wizard Blades or Main Gauches+2. Always check the items dropped by centaurs!

Thanks for that. My computer must have been depressed, because it hung itself. Mid fight, mind you, but these things happen. Life goes on. I found that amulet again, and always sifting thru whatever those centaurs dont wish to keep when they die. Second time around, so i am on the lookout for anything that has not been found, or seen, but i doubt that there is. Funny thing tho, went back to town, and accepted the quest for Madda Mabbig, and lo and behold, she came to me. She must have been bored with being a vampire and just wanted to die. In the middle of a fight? No, it wasn't the computer, it was the game. You must be prepared for it all the time. This happens often: suddenly, the scene freezes. You can move your mouse pointer around but you cannot click anything. The keyboard does not work. Banging the keyboard results in beeping in the end because the input queue overflows: the keystrokes aren't processed by anything in the computer. Among others, any attempt to switch away from the game is futile. Sound seems to be okay.
You can do only one thing: hard reset by means of a button on your computer case. It's the game who is guilty, not the hardware.

I have often seen it. The most critical location is Elysia when you are getting the Snakeskin trait. At least, 50% of attempts results in the following:
- Elysia asks you whether you are ready for the Dark Nectar - You answer "yes". - You hear the sound of gaining the trait and Elysia's laugh. - The end. The game is hanging. Another moments when my game freezes are: - trying to emerge from water by means of PgUp, or - during fights, especially, during a fight of flying Kerah. This happens randomly and I haven't found out any rules, triggers, or warning signs. The game can hang the computer in other situations, too, but the situations above hang the game significantly more often. As far as the frequency of hangings is considered, it seems to be 1/5000 fights. The estimate is the quotient between the observed frequency of hangings and the average number of killings during a game run. I am not emerging from water by means of PgUp any more. Here is my current computer: PIII 550 Intel, 128MB RAM, Riva TNT2 Ultra with 32 MB RAM, Sound Blater 16, 13 GB 7200 rpm HD WD Caviar, CD ROM Teac 48x, W98. Drivers are ok.

Had you already opened her room with the Staff of Death or did she appear outside of her room while it was still locked? And as to your system crash: My sympathies... I know full well how frustrating it is. I once completed the whole Dragon Spire without saving and then it crashed. [ 06-11-2003, 04:35 PM: Message edited by: bsftcs ]

many of our PCs haf crashed before, including mine, so i know how u feel too.........
as for the vampire thingy, it's real weird to see Madda Mabig OUTSIDE the locked room and not inside. this way it'll be troublesome to kill her as if she is behind the door, u can use the "hit through door" technique....
