My disc drive has packed up, the light flashes, it makes a SSssss sound and my whole machine vibrates but the drive won't recognise a disc in it.

I decided to carry on playing Icewind Dale 2 but now can't. Yeah I know this should maybe go onto that forum but it's relatively defunct with a limited number of people still playing, this forum has a bigger audience with lots of people that have played and finished the game.

I've searched high and low and can't find a No CD crack, gamecopy world no longer lists IWD2. I found a Spanish version crack but doubt that'll do the job.

Anyone know where I can get one or does anyone have the crack they can send me?

Wouldn't it just be easier then to replace the drive, you are surely going to need it eventually again... and cd drives are like 25 pounds these days...

I kept getting "no matches found" when I tried searching for IWD or IWD2 on GCW. I find that site difficult to navigate so you may be right Johnny.

Jorath, I haven't really played a game in over a year, the drive is pretty obsolete. I could put 25 quid to better use to be honest. The whole machine is pretty ricketty nowadays anyway.

I don't believe that this is allowed under the TOS. Just a heads up.

Quote from the TOS:

Quote:
...The only possible thing you CAN discuss is the so-called 'cracks' for no CD operation. SOME Games don't work on some peoples CD-ROM's. This is because of a special copy protection called 'Safe Disc'. But that is it.

So Cracks are allowed to be discussed, due to their nature.

You know, thinking about it, my whole machine started playing up at the same time, the hard drive making funny noises, disc drive making funny noises, internet explorer crashing, allsorts. After a reboot my desktop icons wouldn't load even though the machine appeared to have booted normally, eventually they popped back up. I done a virus check and found I had the Mabutu A virus. Everything seemed fine for a few days but then after a reboot the icons wouldn't load until you opened the disc drive. Now the drive won't see discs. A virus couldn't actually have affected the drive in the first place could it, it's just coincidence surely?
