I now have two parties at the final save point, but I haven't finished it, am about to create third party and begin again. What do you think this means?

That you think the hunt is more important than the prize. Either that or you fear that beating it once will remove your enjoyment for playing it again.

Actually I reckon it's because I could no longer tell my girlfriend, "I haven't quite finished it yet."

I know exactly what you mean, although I never play computer games when she's over. If you finish one game, she won't know because you don't get to save after the final fight anyway. So you could finish it and still claim you were at that point

I do that with books !
I read 90 % of the book at high speed, then when there are only 50 pages left, I slow and slow and slow - often takes me a month to read these 50 pages !  Especially when the book is great, and is not the last of a series, and the next book won't be released in ages ...  ------------------  The world is my oyster !
