As I have seen many English shows, I think a 'fag' is a cigarette and a 'dyke' a kind of bike, but I haven't a clue what those mean un the US ...

Here's another for the list;

American/British

P.S. I always spelled grey g r a y until I started using spell checkers in documents. Apparently, the spell checker insists it is g r e y.

My own ancient Webster's dictionary (copyright 1947~it was my dad's) lists gray as the color resulting from blending black and white and grey as the British spelling of gray.

A fag is a cigarette and a dyke is a damn (wall to hold back water). With all the recent flooding lately around my area, we had a pretty good news blunder on one of our local TV stations. The reporters exact words were "I am standing here along the Red River where dozens of men are trying to fill a dyke that opened up this morning"

I guess he didn't know that no matter how many men there were, that dyke was not going to be satisfied
