I'm interested in Shogun too. I almost bought it this past summer, but decided on Anachronox instead (that was a fun game).

For information on Arcanum, you might want to read the following thread:

SHOGUN: TOTAL WAR!!!!!!!!!!
This game rocks man o man! New expansion out for it too. Mongol Invasion...now play as the Mongol Horde or defend the Islands of the Gods.

It is so cool to see literally 1000 of your Buddhist Monks come charging down a hillside into Takedas flank hammering his No-Dachi Samurai into oblivion while your cavlary archers pick off trailing units etc.

This is an awesome game. Wicked strategys...you have to think...plus its got some simplified yet elegantly perfect micromanagement stuff...like building buddhist temples to get the monks or armory to outfit your troops with better defence. Also really cool to have generals you can rely on whos honor is high and who strikes fear into the hearts of your enemies.

Trade with the portugese to get arbesquiers but that might pizz off the Buddhists who dont get along to well wiht the cristian barbarians! The music and sound rock too. This game is great...nuff said!

And if you are into online gaming and you think you are good enough...well plenty of generals out there who would like nothing more than to humiliate you on the battlefield...
