I got Operation for Christmas last year from my mother-in-law. Every year I would kid my wife that I wanted it and last year I got it!

Moni, we must have been separated at birth.
My PARENTS started getting me Word Circles when I was four (yes, I could read at 4). That actually helped me develop faster (mentally). I love any kind of games whether they be board, card, pencil puzzles, puzzles in general, Rubik's Cube and all those. My first video-type game was Pong. My first "video game" on computer was Dragon's Lair (I had an Adam computer with a TAPE drive). Then came Joust. And I spent every single quarter I got at the arcade. My worst bout was (literally) a three-day stint with Asteroids. My Dad wanted to see how high all the scores went, so he got me to play. Once I got all the numbers as high as they would go, he wanted to see how long I could keep playing. I had it BAD so I didn't need any more encouragement than that. He and I stayed awake (LITERALLY again) THREE WHOLE DAYS). Mom would bring me something to eat or drink and if I had to go to the bathroom, I'd get all the scores as high as they would go,then put the controller down and RUN there and back. By the time I got back, I'd be down a few lives, but it didn't take long to get them all back. After the third day, I was a zombie and Dad put a stop to it. He didn't want me to get sick and I don't think he thought I stay at it so long. Now, after having said all that - even though gaming, indeed, makes us seem "young" and possibly "immature" as well - what about other things. I still see the world as a wonderous thing just like I did when I was a child. I go outside and play in summertime rain showers. I like to catch snow on my tongue in the winter. I get chased around the house by my husband and we giggle and laugh (he's usually trying to tickle me).  |
