You use them to make "something" with some other peices.

Golden bones or dog bones?

For golden bones, you will need 2 parts:
1) torso - in Bridge District, in the cellar of the house between the kidnapper (Buried Alive Quest) and the entrance to Twisted Runes at the Southwest corner of the map.
2) arms/legs - in the main map of the Cult of Unseen Eyes, access legitly with Gaal's keys
These will help you assemble a lich called Kangaxx, whose head resides in the cellar of the house to the left of Mae'Var's guildhall.

Ok thanks heaps for that info there. Ive got the arms/legs and ive had the torso but never found the head. once you get all 3 parts what happens??? big fight???? ive seen people talk about control+Q ing him into their party but theres got to be some kind of XP for killing him. completed the game and was at max XP so i didnt really need to do all that but id like to wax something tough now that im going through it again (yes i got the XP cap remover).

Im not sure where the twisted runes are though.. I did kill the Lich in the bridge district last game. Is this where you are talking about?

thank you

Well, lets just day Kangaxx is a lich of its words....and you will get (or at least he will attempt to give) your "rewards". I hope you have enough protection scrolls/spells (e.g. Spell Immunity), or a specialist (berserker) and +4 or above weapons when he decides to "reward" you.
Killing him does grant you decent exp point (like you have a choice other than run or ctrl-q)...I think it is 50k.

As for Twisted Runes, remember the house where you got the torso for Kangaxx? Well, the entrance to Twisted Runes is located to the right of that entrance (same building) but the door faces the water side. You will need a rogue stone to gain access, otherwise you will just be starring at an endless dark void.

Ok I think weve been rehashing this on another subject submitted by someone else. I was never able to get out of the Twisted Rune room but now I know that you had to have the eye of the Beholder to put into the crank to exit. right now ive got 4 rogue stones so it looks like ill have no problem getting in. all i have to do is get my party tough enough to face that section. My monk is about to hit lvl 13 and i might try it then.

I am not too sure, I usually just make the dog stew upstairs....I guess maybe that's the indication of where the dog stew should be dropped off?

i had read that youre supposed to drop the dog stew in the room before the room with the Umber Hulks in it but they ignored the stew and attcked me every time i tried it. It just turned out to be another battle. What Im talking about is after you clear the room the Umber Hulks care from there are 2 halls to the left. you take the topmost and there is a little tunnel you go into and then there is a set of dog bones in the dirt ( storage compartment type thing ). pick up the dog bones and then get ready for the final battle with the Trolls.
Its a little frustrating because all the hints ive read on that part of Nalias Keep dont work. If you have any luck with it let me know how you do it. thanks

As far as the dog bones go, the hints I read (after I'd completed the quest) suggest that you select a party member who can't be detected (hide in shadows etc) and take the dog stew to where the bones are. Supposedly the umber hulks will then take a lunch break.
Of course all this info is useless if your party members are no good at hide in shadows!!
I did it the hard way, and bashed the Umber hulks.
One more thing though, if this is the way to go about things. How on earth are you supposed to figure out that you should go through the room with the Umber hulks whilst hidden? I tried putting the dog stew down in front of them whilst hidden, but going into one of the offside rooms (where the bones are) would never have occurred to me.
