I have the exact same Maxtor 120 gig ATA133 liquid Bearing 8Mb Hard drive and it made a clicking noise when I use my mouse too I changed the mounting screws that came with it for some shorter ones and I only had three that were shorter so I filed one screw down to just remove one thread and put it back in and didn't tighten it down so hard and the clicking went away. It didn't burn out and I've had it in since Janurary this year and it's still working great.
