I'm real happy for you! Gonna be using your searcher regularly, and I'll compare it to Google's results by quality and quantity. Don't worry, so far you're fine

Thanks so much you guys. It's really important to me what you all think, being both IW-friends and objective internet users.

Ross, the idea certainly is that within a year or two I'll compete with some of the bigger engines. Companies pay me for keywords and search terms, and to get a high ranking under them, so say if someone wants to be first under "credit," "loans," and "mortgages," $25 or so will get them there. Until someone else comes along and offers $30, meaning the initial company will now be second. What follows is kind of a bidding war, since search engine traffic is the highest quality a company could ask for. So that's how the system works, and with every search term out there. Thanks again for the support, everyone.

Wow, that's great! I'll certainly use it from now on - to hell with Google!!

I have to say, this "web-entrepreneur" business sounds interesting... What sort of businesses do you buy? How much is the average one?

For whatever its worth, I wanted to mention that when I first saw this thread title, "LookSprint.com" , I have to be honest and say that the first thing I thought was that it was something to do with Sprint, the communication company.
I wonder if others thought that, and if that will be a factor when the general internet population see your banner on other sites.
Good, becouse its Sprint, or bad becouse of Sprint....

Thanks, Jaradu.

If you're interested in starting your own online business, just do a Google dammit, LookSprint search for "turnkey websites" - these are sites which are specifically designed to make money, where all you have to do is promote them. That's not how I got this search engine, but for a basic site, that's what you could do. It's tricky to promote everything properly and find people who actually want to buy your product - you need to have something that you know is popular and will sell. So in theory, you can start your own business for about $100, but one with serious potential will sell for a lot more. My search engine generates revenue in nine different ways, so something like that is going to be a lot more expensive than one which sells credit repair kits, for example. So I look for the opportunities with multiple income streams, then promote like crazy - and the latter is often a lot more than the price of the actual site.

EDIT: LK, I can't really change the name, it's a little too late, but I do see what you mean. Fortunately, I think it still works. It's so hard to get a good dot com, so it's not surprising that people are having to be more creative as time goes on.

Thanks for the info, Arledrian

But, as I'm 14 years old, I doubt I'll be starting anything like that soon . I just wanted to know because it sounds like an interesting side-job for the future .

One more question: how do the companies decide whether they want to be at the top of your list? Do you email them? Do they research your site? Can they have access to an online counter of your site? Or is there some other way that I'm not thinking of?

Well anyways, good luck to you, and all the best for the future years! I respect you for this, it's something I would love to do. The risk would be worth it IMO.

You never know, maybe one day I will be able to say that I talked to Alex, the millionare.

One other thing. (Sorry just read the "How it Works" page.

Did you create the whole website yourself? Or is it a standard template?
