bauble stick

Click on the "use/give" icon, and in the window that probably usually displays your automap you'll see some item with the words "give" and "use" below it. Click on "use". Then click on the up/down arrows on that parchment window as necessary until it shows your bauble stick. Then click on the crystal and it should go into your inventory. Caveat: I don't remember if you must equip the bauble stick first or if it will work from your backpack.
