Still haven't heard about a sinkhole in Lakeland, but I did find this story about a sinkhole in Lake City -- that's up near the FL / GA state line. Could that be your story?

That looks very much like the place in the video!
You know I may not be sure of what station I was watching but I am absolutely positive the man said Lakeland, FL (I have friends who live there but we rarely talk - the name jumps out at me whenever I hear it)! Apparently he's not the brightest crayon in the box.  Thank you for pin-pointing the actual location!

I wonder, is something like this covered under homeowners insurance in Florida? I hope so, it would be horrible for those people to not be able to get some money to get a new home.
