I haven't used one since primary school. I saw a bloke drinking out of one on the street yesterday, knowing that alcoholics hang out there at night...
Almost made me sick.

I would never use a public one now - and if I'd known more about the world when I was young, would not have used the school ones that weren't locked up at night...

Maybe it is just a difference in location. If the water is brown coming out of the faucet I don't drink. Most places I go that isn't a problem. Whether it is public parks, malls, or businesses; water fountains aren't used as a target for litter and filth. Maybe it is the hotter climate but water fountains always seem to be well taken care of and respected by users.

As long as there is nothing unusually gross about it and I am thirsty, sure. Why not?

Sure, when you're thirsty you drink almost everything. I'd rather buy a beer though.

I let the water run for a while before I use it. The drinking fountains at parks I rarely use as the water is always warm and smells funny

Not since I realised how easy it would be to use one to spread a toxin.
