Police in Northern Ireland have said they prevented a major bomb attack by dissident republicans.

Two men were arrested and two bombs seized at Newry in County Down - on the border with the Irish Republic.

Northern Ireland Chief Constable Hugh Orde said it was too early to confirm the intended target, but said police action had saved many lives.

The two under-car booby trap bombs were discovered when the police stopped a car.

LOL, Saz, I don't know if you ever looked at the old (60's) comic book, The Fabulous, Furry, Freak Brothers? There was a recurrent subplot about "Kommander Kockroach and his Roach Reich," and he was always sending out his roaches to do things, mainly stealing food. Fat Freddy's Cat would always kill them, and an aide would ask the Kommander if they should get a medal, sound taps, etc., and the Kommander's reply was always, "Nah, there's plenty more where they came from."

It is nice to see them being caught BEFORE the bombs going off, that is for sure!

Well, that IS a nice report! So often we'd be hearing about how all those bombs exlploded and who got hurt or killed.
