Woohoo!
Friday night, and I've got 3 days off since Monday is a public holiday here! Mmmmm... what am I gonna do with myself - 3 whole days! Well I thought I might spend some time tinkering with my mountain bike and go cycling if the weather's OK! If not, well the bathroom needs painting and I can organise some of my friends into having a bit of a session. Oh and let's not forget the Cup Final! Bah, I'll be watching it at home on my TV - I tried hard, but none of my friends are interested whatsoever (male or female) - in fact most of them hate football (soccer) I even offered to buy drinks for them all afternoon, and most of my friends are keen on their beer, but it did me no good whatsoever. My one friend who likes football is a *cough*Spurs*cough* fan, so no way is he gonna come out with me to watch me cheer on Arsenal

Uss, you think that the game is going to be easy for my characters? Nameless is 24th lvl Fighter with +++++ in hammers, the Hammer of Comminution, 3i/2 attacks per turn, and a THACO of 1. Morte is 23rd Lvl, Annah, Fall-from-Grace,Dak'Kon are similar, and Nordom is coming along, I think that he is 16th level. Nameless can't user the Bronze Sphere yet (I think that requires 20 INT/21 WIS.
Elif, you didn't tell me about the baby. How is she? Cloudy, I had my orgy of TV watching last night, when I watched Friends, Will& Grace, and E.R.. My nice hubby cooked and went to the store so that I can watch without interruptions. Sob, Mark Green died.

Since we've just had two pro-D2 speeches I believe that I'd like to present the opposite viewpoint:
It ain't an RPG, hack 'n' slash with levelups and stats. Save your money for something better I'd say, playing singleplayer is almost the same no matter how many times you play it, and every time you save and reload every single monster is respawned, gets boring, FAST. Then of course there's multiplayer, that's not much fun either, when playing online people will hack like there's no tomorrow and half of the people will be pretty annoying as well. All through the game you'll be doing the same stuff, finding more or less the same items, just stronger and stronger. There aren't even any really imaginative and unique spells, much less items. Diablo 2 is Blizzard's one and only great mistake. Warcraft was a great game. Warcraft 2 even greater. Starcraft was wonderful. Diablo was cool. Diablo 2.... Not quite so cool. Personally I found Diablo 2 to be boring before even getting halfway through it. I was tired of having to kill everything again whenever I played. Oh and then there's the fact that just a small mistake in how you allocate your skillpoints near the beginning of the game can make it impossible for you to progress any further and beat certain bosses. I was incapable of beating the 2nd big boss of the game just because I'd made such a small mistake. Rather sucked, I'd have had to start over completely with a new character if I wanted to ratify that mistake. Summary: Diablo 2 sucks badly compared to most games. Buy Diablo 1 instead, or better yet, buy something that's actually an RPG and not just called one. Personally I recommend Planescape: Torment. |

- - - - - - - - I don't believe that it's possible to use the Bronze Sphere before you near the end of the game, and then only if you've got some nice stats. If it IS possible to use it before then, then I don't know about it. |

yeah, galadria, i think that when you go through the portal, you will be like a knife, Ravel will act as butter .
btw, Neb, some time ago, when i didnt know anything about IW, i was very excited about Warcraft III. then everybody just said quiet. when i read your thoughts about D2(you bastard! j/k ), it reminded me of Warcraft 3 again and that itll be a wonderful half RPG, half RTS game, while all the great RPGs come out. ahh, life is good .. Are you excited about it? hmm, ive also played all sorts of Blizzard games(all of the ones you mentiones) and loved em all. Blizzard is a good game company, no? |

I just wish that Blizzard hadn't gone away from the half RPG/half RTS design.... That was what really got me excited about Warcraft III when I saw it first. Blizzard? Pretty good company, even though they haven't produced that many titles every single one of them is memorable. They're a bit slow producing their games, but they do, however, produce remarkably bug-free ones. Notice that their patches fix few bugs and mainly just balance the game more. You'll have to excuse the wave of D2 hatred, I just cannot stand that game.... Blizzard's one and only failure. Besides Blizzard my other favorite game producers are: Westwood(Lands of Lore, Dune RTS series.), Blue Byte(Giving us lots of nice turn-based strategy.), Volition(Freespace 1&2 and Summoner), SSI(Warlords!), Origin(Every Ultima game minus 8&9, also Wing Commander), 3D0(Formerly New World Computing, gave us good RPG's until they reached Might and Magic 6, then it went downhill. M&M 4&5 were absolute legends. I'm gonna reinstall 'em this weekend.), Eidos(Warzone 2100), Sierra(Various Quest games, Betrayal at Krondor) and last but not least, Interplay and Bioware(Infinity Engine games, Fallout, Interplay has part of the responsibility for giving us Freespace 1&2.) |
