Although a lot of people are requesting to join in a forum, I would recommend a chat program if available. This will speed up the process of gameplay. A forum is possible, but be aware that each turn could take a considerable amount of time (depending on how fast someone can access the webpage). The reason being that the page would have to be added to and then updated to see what was being done. The way that some people do it is by having the DM pick someone in the group to be leader and then having the other party members e-mail the lead person to tell them what they want to do. (I personally think this last one bites.) The benefit of using a chat program like ICQ is that you can go into a room and all party members present can type what they want to do live. You can still have one person to use as a lead, but are not held back by e-mail. As for those that are not in the group, depending on how "big" the campaign gets, a couple of people can join in strictly as observers. Thereby learning the process that is involved. When they feel confident with the system, then they can either request to join the party or to help control a NPC. As for someone else's remark about PK someone, well, this can be simulated by subdual damage rather than actual attack damage. What this means is that you basically pull your punch (inflect weaker spells) so that true damage will not occur. It's similar to what happens at the beginning of BG2 in the training session. The main thing to do is to relax and just enjoy the story evolving around you. Think of it more like an interactive story that you are reading where your actions can help contribute to the direction the story takes. That's the best way to both explain true PnP and also online gaming in general. Remember this too . . . Anything you can imagine is possible in both online D&D and PnP adventures. Your DM will tell you whether or not it's possible for you to do what you attempt, but everything is fair game. You don't like someone and want to fireball them, it's possible. Want to walk up to the mayor and try to bribe him to allow you a certain leniency in his town? It's possible too. You want to siege a castle, but want to try to "stealth" your way in. Depending on it's guards and protections, that's definitely possible too. Unable to pick a lock and/or get into a room? Well, if you have enough strength, you can try to bash it in. Same holds true for the walls too. Remember, if you can think it up, and your character actually has the possibility of doing the action, it can happen. I bet a lot of you will think differently about Intelligence and Wisdom in these respects. You'll be surprised at what they can do for you.

a chat requires everyone to be *on*, it is very hard to do it. unlike forum AD&D, we dont have to be on at the same time

Yes, it does. But then, it ends up making the game flow a little easier too. I'm not saying that you have to run it that way, just that for most it makes the game more enjoyable. You can play chess by mail too, but I wouldn't recommend it.

So spill the beans man, what have you heard? Do you know when it's going into effect? That would be so cool.

Hmm, ok, this is looking good, except for one thing.. me,
I don´t hvae the time actually to be your DM, I´m stuck up with work and also i´m into leading a party right now as it is. So I´m afraid i can´t lead you. I´m sorry if there has been a misunderstanding here. Though I´m still interested in the idea and well I have only the 3:ed rules now so thoose looking for a 2:nd ed adventure, sorry.

However i will try and help out if i can and would like to give some ideas, and cliffhangers for any DM that takes up the quest.
personally I would suggest messenger or Icq to play on. And a website would be good, there you can update a journal over the play so far, have maps, character desriptions and even have charactersheets and everything. Tis could be good to have i the background while playing.

Again, sorry if there was any misunderstanding, noticed that some of you refered to me as the DM an well i would like that, but I don´t simply have the time right now. Sorry to let you down guys and ladies...
