Krikey, the golems after the 8 chambers are tough. I skipped them, in fact. Anyone got info on how to beat them. If you mention specific weapons, would you please tell me locations.

I assume youre playing without HoF, because with HoF they are extremely easy... you need the kegsplitter axe from Targos which kills constructs with one blow...

without Hof... you can try protection from evil + summon elementals... also casting Otilukes resilient sphere on a character and putting him in the middle as decoy might be useful...
Some people mentioned instant death magic (eg disintegrate, finger of death) but AFAIK it doesnt work on golems

EDIT: try this old link

Most people just take the loot and run.

I didn't do it when I have a monk or are playing a lawfull game.

Yeah, the golems leave you alone unless you try to open the coffin for whatever is inside (I wasn't impressed with the stuff myself). As I recall, you need +5 to hit an iron golem.

Spears will do the work. Use a druid that maybe by now will be poison immune. Give him a spear from the village that you have visited before and-gg!!

I did a snatch and run myself, used haste on my rogue and had everyone waiting by the portal to the next screen.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of good old fashioned robbery but what's the deal with the iron golem's! High level budgeoning weapons take the out pretty fast and with expendible decoy's like undead or monsters they are a piece of cake.

Bludgeoning weapons? Are you really sure about that?

The general's knowledge is vast and I killed an iron golem only hours ago with a barrage of bludgeoning weapons (hammer, flail). They may look clumsy but they are effective against high ranking enemies.

Any weapon that is +3 or better will do it, and such weapons can be bought in the next area. Just make sure you dont get surrounded by the bastards. 4 gas clouds can be pretty devastating
