I was just wondering... do you have them down un'da?
Or is the place a joke or is it realistic food and stuff? I have a feeling it's a joke.. (Still good sometimes, but I bet REAL aussie food is even better).

We have one here in Huntsville that used to sell kangaroo steaks but they were not very popular so they changed locations and their menu now is more tbone, prime rib type of stuff.

I took Yoric to one when he was here in town. He said the food was great, and it even reminded him of home a little. we did get him to explain a lot of stuff from the menu .

I imagine the Aussies look at Outback Steakhouse the way that Yanks like me view Japanese interpretations of American pop culture very much in evidence in that country: riotously funny and a bit flattering at the same time. That Japanese people would pay a premium on top of Japan's famously outrageous prices for everything to soak up ersatz, simplified "America 101"-type atmosphere was fascinating to me. I found it all the more amusing that my presence as a genuine Amerika-jin at such a place was likely considered to be some sort of stamp of approval ("He's American, he eats here...must be the goods!"}.
Though I blush to admit I did the same thing a few times in Japan for the opposite reason: to have a meal in the one place on Earth I'm likely have a meal served to me by a cute Japanese girl dressed in a Daisy-Duke style waitress outfit complete with a big hat and boots. ;-* [ 12-14-2002, 09:41 PM: Message edited by: Gregster ]

You can call me picky, but after all the hype about how great the Outback steaks were, I was rather disappointed. The steaks are really no better than anyother fast food steak place. While in Kansas City I had some truly wonderful steaks, and I hear Texas has some outstanding places. Im waiting for the chance to try Ruths Cris steak house some time.

Well I am not from down-under but we have one in Edmonton I ate there once and thats it for me. I did not like the food and it was over priced.
