Anyway, I had a nickname in the past, "Wagie", an abbreviation of my last name. It was needed because we had 3 people with the same first name in the classroom... In the end, none of us was named by his first name at all anymore.

Interesting...um, haven't I heard of 'The Immortal Wombat' before? In a cartoon or anime or something?

It was in a cartoon I think. How it applied to me I have no idea, but thus I was named.

Oh, i'm also know as "Pat" after an interesting incident with a student teacher in english....

The oddest nickname I have ever gotten was 'Fred' (my r/l name being Brenda).
One of my NOW closest friends dubbed me 'Fred' soon after we first met. For some odd reason, I also answered to it. When I asked her (much later) why she called me 'Fred', she said that the day she first met me, I was wearing a shirt that reminded her of the one Fred Flintstone wore in the cartoon. (Apparently something with orange and black on it). When next she came across me, she couldn't remember my name. So instead of embarrasing herself by asking my name again, she dubbed me something she could remember. It is the only nickname that I've ever gotten that has really 'stuck' and the longest lasting one, too. She has since moved back to Ohio, but when she sends me letters, they are always addressed to 'Fred'.

Never had one, apart from 'the old trout' which my children use, lol! But Fred was my dad's name, and I use it, along with something else, elsewhere.

Yes, I think I may have seen SC call you that once or twice here. LOL! As long as it is meant affectionately, I guess one can adapt to almost anything.

OK, you 'smart guys' from the Netherlands! I went and looked it up in an online dictionary. So there! But if I did indeed get the proper definition!!!! Maybe I'm sorry I asked.
