Just wondering. when you chuck a minute meteor (melfs) at a mage with Spell Turning cast, how many levels does it take up. would having 3 meteors rebound use up the spell turning levels? If so, this make MMM ridiculously good. i.e. improved haste = 10 thrown/round = 40 spell levels taken off = spell trap gone in 1 round?!?
or am i completely wrong? |

I think you're right! I know that throwing Meteors at a mage with Minor Spell Turning up returns three Meteors to the caster, before they start to damage the mage.

For some real fun, cast Spell Turning on yourself then cast Melf's Minute Meteors or Magic Missle at a mage protected by Spell Turning. Tennis, anyone?

quote: Does this actually work? In a long-ago console game, there was this boss npc that couldn't be targetted by magic. So one of the ways to beat him was to have him use his own spells against em. He casted against someone who had this sort of shield up and it rebounded back to him and penetrated his own shield. ALA- dead boss. Since the boss npc was the original caster, it wasn't as if a hostile spell was used targetted towards him. I think it is somewhat the same here too. I read a post saying that if an npc mage casts upon your shields and die from his own rebounding spells, you may be missing out on either goods, exp, and information since it wasn't actually -you- who killed em. Maybe it's only the latter since game triggers can't be met to sequence proper dialogue, but I'm thinking it can be the same way with loot - npc has to die by a player character and not by his own spells before the loot drops. I've wondered about this but can't try it right now. Will definitely have to get two mages and see who takes dmg.

Nope. The meteor just vanishes.
MMs are a good, cheap way to use up Spell Turning. |
