So people, here is where you can have a say on what you believe was or is the greatest RPG of all time. I'm saying the Bard's Tale series because it was the first RPG I ever played.

Might and Magic 4&5 were wonderful, definitely one of the best for me. Lands of Lore 1 was also a legendary game. Betrayal at Krondor, too. Oh, and Final Fantasy 4-7 were also absolutely supreme.

I'd say this topic has been done to death already.

However I think Fallout and Fallout 2 gets my bet as greatest RPG I have ever played. Words don't do it justice. I've played the BG series, Torment and Arcanum but they still don't beat the two Fallouts.

What is Arcanum like? I was thinking about getting it.

Pretty good, an RPG with a very original setting and with a turn-based combat system. The story is great although its very long (and I mean long) and the graphics are a bit dated.

The greatest RPG is the one without any limitaions and the ability to controll the world around you as you deem fit...

that ist he best RPG, the one you make yourself... whether it be through NWN DMing or playing a D20 game...
