Let's say that I had a character that I lost touch with and wanted to change him or her up for a new PC. Okay, so what if I were to go to a secret place and drop some valuables and gold with my outdated character and then log into the server with me new character and go pick those items up before the server was renewed...
Does it work like that?

It does if somebody else is in game. If not, the server reloads when you exit, and the goodies are gone.

A word of caution though, I have been caught out several times with the server appearing to crash on exit - expensive! I suggest you leave amounts you can afford to lose!

So...a little at a time...good idea. And...I assume you guys will not be around to watch me strip and then take off with all my goodies...rather will actually guard the door so as to not let any malicious intruder in to steal my valuables...right?

Just go on while someone else you know is a regular player is there. That way they can hold onto the items for you and drop them back to your new character(s) when you return. I know I have just doled out random items to people starting up new characters period, mainly as I am a huge packrat. If you ever see me online with my characters, just let me know and I'll see what I can do to help you out with beefing up your starting PC.

Thanks, Moz. That's a nice offer.

I used to sign on and be offered stuff like that all the time, that's how I got some of my favorite cloaks and other goodies. Sometimes hubby and I will do what Mozenwraith suggests, just swap out things with each other.

Never hurts to lend a hand. I just ask any players I do that for to assist others in the same way. When the new *.Hak file comes out for the Undermountain, I have a feeling I will be maxing out my cash by selling off a whole host of items just to see what the stores have to sell to their eager customers. If and when I do that, I will more than likely be transfering items between characters in order to get as much cash to my starter level characters as possible. If it turns out a new player (or at least a new character) needs some of the items I just go rid of, I'll just buy them back and offer them up to the character in question. After all, it is not like I can't get more money where I got the last pile from, right?
