Yes, they still exist.

So how many do you own? How many do you buy monthly or yearly? (or in Grojlach's case, weekly )

If you don't own any, why?

Oh I forgot something
What kind of Cds are they?? Give us a small glimpse into your collection - say your first CD ever, and the last ten you bought/got... something like that.

Answer to the second question: mostly progressive metal CD's. My first CD was U2 best of 1980-90, before that I got everything on casettes.

I have the following CDs now:

Linkin Park-Hybrid Theory
Linkin Park-Reanimation
Linkin Park-Meteora
Ill Nino-Revolution/Revoluçion
Ill Nino-Confession
Evanescence-Fallen
After Forever-Prison of Desire
After Forever-Decipher

Not so many but I only buy it if I'm sure I like everything and it lasts longer than a few months, usually tested either with samples or internet radio. Don't really listen LP anymore. I buy when I think I've found a cool CD and not weekly or monthly, first of those CDs I bought end 2000. I intend to buy Battlelore's Sword's Song and Where the shadows lie and probably the new full-length After Forever album (damn 6 song EPs for 17 euro)soon.

Most of the CDs I want now are either from one of the bands above and cool (no LP anymore) or somewhere in the death-doom metal (gothic if you like).

::turns around and checks::
3 Enigma CDs
2 George Carlin CDs
Flogging Molly- Swagger
Jewel- Pieces of You
The Monty Python Instant Record Collection
The Very Best of Kiss
Meat Loaf- Bat out of Hell
Dixie Chicks- Fly
Ultimate Broadway 2
Soundtracks: Aida, Little Shop of Horrors, The Producers, Guys and Dolls, Chicago, Rent

And more game CDs than I care to list.
Typically, I buy one a month. Any more and I'd quickly go broke, so I have a month to consider what I really want... I think the next one might be something by The Cranberries.

I've got a couple o' hundred CDs.
I used to buy CDs weekly, but the price in NZ has gone up about $15 over the last six or seven years so I simply can't afford to buy them as frequently.
The first CD I ever owned was 'The Simpsons Sing the Blues', which I got for Christmas when I was about 8 or 9. It still gives me nostalgia...
The first CD I bought with my own money was the first Korn album when I was 14. It was what got me into heavy distortion riffage.
The last CD I bought was 'Desert Sessions 9 and 10'. Some good stuff featuring Queen's of the Stoneage guitarist Josh Homme. But not as good as 7 and 8 in my opinion.

I have 50+ CDs in my collection, but the majority of them are just sitting around collecting dust... The ones I actually listen to I keep in my shiny little case, which goes with me pretty much everywhere I can play music. Currently in there...

1. Pipedown - Enemies of Progress
2. Mindless Self Indulgence - Alienating Our Audience (Live)
3. Bad Religion - The Process of Belief
4. Guttermouth - Covered With Ants
6. Anti-Flag - Mobilize
7. NOFX - The War On Errorism
8. Pennywise - Straight Ahead
9. The Offspring - Americana
10. Pennywise - From The Ashes
11. Pipedown - Mental Weaponry
12. Bad Religion - The Gray Race
13. Minor Threat - Complete Discography

So meh. I'm one of those kids who gets picked on for their band t-shirts. (Dude, what's with the sheep?) Whatever though, they're just bitter that the pop-punk fad died and now they can't dress like me. Bloody poseurs...

I have about 200+ , but I sold about 100 some years ago, because the lack of space. I buy about 10 per year.

I tried to remember what CD I bought first, but I failed. Much time has passed and when the first CD's came out I tried to replace my old LP's, so I don't know, which one was the first. But I remember the first LP I bought myself : The Beatles, White Album.

The last three CD's I bought:
Runrig , Proterra
Emerson, Lake & Palmer , Works 1 ( just released in Germany )
ZZTop , XXX
