Pff whatever. We're holding up to them just fine. First game went into double OT, Detroit won with a flukey flukey goal. And we won today, so enough said.

I was wondering when you were going to start rubbing it in, Sir G. I've gotta hand it to the Oilers - they seem to have found a way to take over the center ice and not let the Wings regroup.
Now... as soon as Detroit decides how they're going to get around that...

The Flames make me so sad. So very sad, especially since, for the approximately 10 minutes they were trying, they scored 3 goals. Huselius is amazing though.
Funny how we now have more goals then the Red Wings, no.

That is a testament to the Oilers defence.

If there's one thing I've come to hate about Red Wing playoff hockey, it's how they come into town and turn a journeyman goalie into the next coming of Patrick Roy...
Giguere. Kiprusoff. Roloson. Sheesh! Just put 'em away like folded laundry and move on!

Umm, Kiprusoff will win the Vezina this year. And the Jennings. He's been doing it against the entire league, not just the Wings. Further, Giguere won the Conn Smythe in 2003 - he played out of his mind in four series, not just against the Wings. The jury is still out on Roloson. It's a long series. As for them being journeymen, sometimes it just takes time to figure the position out and be put into a situation where you are the go-to goalie. Example: Dominik Hasek in Chicago before being traded to Buffalo.
Heck, if you want to rag on the Wings (who are not a favourite team of mine), rag on their goaltending. Manny Legace? What about Chris (Never-Was)good? If the Wings of the late 1990s weren't so awesome, would he ever have won any Cups? How can we talk about the playoffs and not talk about The Hit from the Buffalo-Philly series? Object lesson A in the importance of keeping your head up. What's with the Flyers acquiring holdout draft picks who skate with their heads down? (Lindros, held out from Quebec; Umberger, held out from Vancouver)

And my position, Aerich, is that those guys faced the Wings in the playoffs and bounced up to something far, far better than before. Doesn't mean they're journeymen now... but that thanks to the Wings, they found something better and more.
'Course, you're probably going to bring up some history or other facts that show that those guys were decent before... As for the Wings goaltending, we don't have the mental dominance of a Patrick Roy (who we dominated and chased out of Montreal, BTW). We don't have the skill and focus of Hasek. We've got a couple of guys who know that they are part of a team, and will play well. I saw Legace making some impressive saves yesterday, and I also saw him lose his concentration. He's said himself that if the Wings don't go far, he'll probably be looking for a job next year. Goalie on the Wings is only second to quarterback for the Lions in terms of abused positions around these parts... And on the Hit... as Ken Hitchcock said, he's a young guy and he's been welcomed to the playoffs. Hopefully he doesn't have to learn that lesson again...
