And "250", I agree wholeheartedly that you've come a long way since first joining this forum. Thumbs up !

Don't think we've ever really spoken 250, but nice to have you along, as they say variety is the spice of life.
Well Ramon, I think Deux-cent-cinquante, or two-fifty have better rings to them than two hundred and fifty, or zwei hundert funfzig, don't you agree?

My problem with French is that is sounds so wonderful when spoken by natives and most French as a second language speakers, but horrendous when spoken by most others - like myself.

in my head. I murder foreign languages when I speak them too.

Oh, that is, of course, true to some extent with respect to any language, but with French IMHO the discrepancy is especially wide.

True Ramon true. As an aside my German teacher at school for a joke would speak to us in German, but with an Irish accent, particularly difficult when German was his third language, after English and French.

I actually had a fantastic French teacher at school, a Scotsman who was fluent in French/German/Russian/Spanish/Italian and could read Norwegian. Tough act to follow.

Aah, take that ! I have been told that I manage to "murder" - I think "strangle" would be even more appropriate - even German !

Ah but the trick with German is as follows, greet the German person Guten Tag/ Gruss Gott etc, to which they reply ah English, and then I don't need to speak German, could have saved three years of German classes if I'd work it out earlier. (j/k)

I tried to employ that tactic, when I was still a baby, with my mother, but she just wouldn't fall for it and kept talking German with me. Bad luck, I guess !
