"Calling Robert Jordan's characters 'cardboard' is, frankly, impugning the moral rectitude and dimensionality of high fiber reprocessed paper products everywhere."

I don't know who said this, but it had me in stitches for a long, long time.

That's why I won't read L. Ron Hubbard. I have a problem with people who want to
control other peoples minds! Sorry if that offends anyone out there.

I concur with the view that Moorcock's "evil" elves were superior to how Drow are depicted in D&D, but remember that the age target for D&D is broader than Moorcocks books.

I dont really have a worst. Maybe Andrew Offett or Katherine Kurtz. Anyone remember that crap? Pretty lame stuff. I did not care for Zelazny either.

But, I will say this, Tolkien - The Lord of the Rings and Moorcock - Chronicles of the Black Sword may be the best fantasy ever written regardless of what people may think of the rest of their works. Hey, J.D. Salinger had one good book in him, but it was a doozy.
