Just curious... What do you think happens at death?

Do you just cease to exist -- zero, blank-out, nothing, nada, the end?

Or do you go to Heaven or Hell and spend all eternity there, depending on what you have believed or done when alive?

Or do you come back -- again and again? (Perhaps not necessarily as a human being, and not necessarily to planet Earth either...)

Or do you believe in something else?

On my part, I believe we come back...

I've heard many different accounts from people who have died and been brought back to life through modern medicine. That being the case, I'll have to get back with you on this one once I've reached my own terminus.

What a silly thing to ask...there is no answer because no one (with one or two possible exceptions) has ever really died and come back thus no one will ever know. I discount the popularly related "near death" fantasies as close but no ceegar in the death catagory. Stay dead a week then come back and tel me...then I will believe ya.

My personal belief is that something happens, the only thing which I refuse to believe that that might be is:

"you just cease to exist -- zero, blank-out, nothing, nada, the end"

As that would make our lives pointless.

Personally, I don't find this a silly question. I think it shows one is searching, and that can only be good, as I see it.

I don't know the answer to that question either. I can only hope that there is more than just a physical existence, otherwise life seems to be without purpose.

MagiK, your answer intrigues me. Especially the last sentence. Aren't you looking at just the physical aspect? What about what occupies the physical body? The spirit. I don't think I'm just a 'physical' body. There's the part that's 'me'.

But if that part I call 'me' was to come back... and maybe I have done this already?? ..... would I be believed if I knew it for a fact and said so? Highly doubtful, because I think most people need to see it physically since that's the level they mostly operate from.

I wish I knew more, but I'm only searching here too.

Neb some people seem to like to think that is the case, Nihlists I think they are called. It is usually an excuse to be morose, depressing and in general just an excuse to pee in everyone elses cheerios! Its also used as a good excuse to not be responsible for anything, since you wont be accountable to anyone or anything.

Actually I would think that it'd make a good reason to NOT be Nihilistic and just do whatever you want, think of noone else, after all, once you die it won't matter to you at all and you won't be held responsible.

If you hold that belief of course.

I believe that after we leave this world that our "souls" go to heaven. I also like to believe that all good people or people who have make right their bad actions go to heaven. i.e the heaven i believe in isn't just for christian people.
I also like to believe that no-one is truly gone as long as someone on earth still loves them.
Why do you think people like to believe in reincarnation or a after life? I've heard some people say that it is cause we are so afraid of dying that we invent something that takes the edge off the fear, does anyone agree with that? I tend not to

IMO, every religion has its own belief on whatever happens if you die, IIRC, christian belive that if you're good you'll go to heaven, and if bad you'll go to hell. i guess in Buddhism if you die there's a chance that you'll be reincarnated(i don't know if it's buddism and sorry if i spelled it incorrectly) and they also blieve about KARMA that whatever you do in your past life will reflect after you've been reincarnated. whatever do you believe in is where you'll eventually go. this is just my opinion after you die, i cant really say that dis is all true.

maybe if i die i'll tell you what's really true whenever you die.
