*HUGS*
I am sorry!
We nearly lost all three of our dogs to poisonings recently.
One of our neighbors lost one of theirs because they did not take her to the vet.

I am sorry you lost your friend.

I'm sorry about your two losses. I know how it feels to lose a loved animal too. Not too long ago I was taking care of 5 puppies, 2 died and the other 3 were taken to the humane society, to be killed eventually.

Oh! my dogs are still alive!

We got our pup to the Pet E.R. just in time to save his life.
The other two are older dogs who always get the least of any food if they have to compete with the pup for it and we had time to administer an antidote without the emergency care that the pup needed.

I'm wondering if the pup learned any lessons about eating anything thrown over the fence by strangers...probably not.
We are in the process of putting up a tall wooden fence around the perimeter of the yard and have penned the dogs in closer to the house for the time being.

Thanks for your concern though...the neighbor's dog that did die, she wasn't taken care of by them anyway and something bad was bound to happen to her. I am sure her spirit, if dogs have spirits, is happier now than she was having to be their dog.

I am so very sorry, I know how it feels to lose such a friend. Before my current kitty 'Chocolate', I had Charly--a Siamese kitty like Chocolate, and died of kidney failure. (He was 17). I grew up with him--got him when I was in 1st grade. When he died, It was like my own SON died. I still cry to this day thinking of holding him as he was dying, struggling to breath.. telling him it is 'ok to go now'.. I felt so helpless. I wanted to make him better. But he had a GREAT life, and we did everything together.. my boy. Charly.

Dedicate a webpage to him!! That's what I have done for Charly, at:

Very sorry to hear about your loss.

I do Border Collie rescue work and often come across various poems that people have written for the difficult time when we loose one of our furry friends:

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ... in the
stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.
