I think the boxers will suffice in place of electricity

Well I live by the rule 'my cat is more important than my material possessions', so I don't really have personal experience to help you out. LOL I checked the inside of my curtains the other day and there was this huge patch of grey fur just where Tuppence brushes past to get on the window sill

However I have heard and read of success that people have with a simple spray bottle of water. Basically you need to stake out your car and whenever the cat gets on you spray him. It doesn't work unless you do it when he gets on because otherwise he won't associate being sprayed with getting on the car. It's basic behavioural conditioning - actions create consequences, which cats can learn very well so long as it's done properly and is totally predictable.

The spray bottle works great for awhile, then they start wanting to jump in the tub or shower with you, or playing with the water as you wash dishes.

OK, my cats are a little wierd. One as a shoe and feet fetish, the other likes to go up to female dogs and tries to suck them. I have never seen dogs cower in fear at the approach of a cat.

try shooting a water gun at your cat every time it gets on your car. do it so that covertly so that you don't get seen by your cat. eventually he'll be conditioned that going on your car means a squirt in his nice fur, unless he happens to like water then maybe something else can be squirted at him.

My suggestion- curry powder sprinkled on the roof. A nice armoma and my cat hates it being near and hides. But he also hides from mops so I don't know.

Curry powder! Now that might be great...first got to see if Binx hates it, and if he does, wonderful. Water guns would work too except since my cat is an outside cat only there's no telling where he is at a given time, especially considering we live on 2.5 acres, and so do all our neighbors-lots for kitties to do.
See I've never actually seen the cat on my car, or any of our cars, much less get on them or jump off them

I don't have cats, but there are heaps of cats in my street. For some reason they like..."defouling" my back and front yard. Nothing stops them: pepper, mesh, water - I haven't tried curry powder or electrocution. (I didn't think the latter was legal )

The best thing (I've found out) is to just run out and scare them away.

the bitter apple stuff cloudy mentioned...i'm not sure how well it works on cats, but my ferret doesn't seem to notice nad my bunny hated it. we hate it too. if you get it don't inhale while spraying! and if you inhale it....be careful what you eat for a while....
