Re: For love nor money...
Gods.... certain parts of my anatomy were crawling up, looking for a safe place to hide.
Nope, that's not for me either.

"From here, it's just another 60 feet to the top!"
I'd like to think i'd try it once, just to say that i'd done it. But i like to think a lot of things...

No way! Free-climbing at that height? That would certainly keep the heart-rate up. Hope it pays well.

Re: For love nor money...
I've done this. The middle "pipe" you see in the video is the radio tower's transmission line. I worked as a radio station electronic tech for about a year, and one of our contract stations lost the top transmitter of their 1500 ft. tower (most tall radio towers have 2 transmitter antennae; one about 500-600 ft. {the backup}, and one about 100 ft. from the top of the tower {the primary transmitter}... the rest of the tower above the top antenna is one big glorified lightning rod).
That being said, our responsibility is just to troubleshoot to where the break in the line was located. That involves jumpering around the lower antenna so we can use the TDR (time domain reflectometer...it's a device for detecting breaks in transmission lines, and it tells you how far down the line the break is.) to detect where the line break was. My boss was the insured one so he was the one to jumper around the lower antenna. I operated the TDR. We found the break at approx. 1170 ft. At that point you call in the tower maintenance guys for the big guns. Those companies are heavily insured (and highly paid) and do the actual repair to the tower. My job was just ground support, but it was still a very interesting 2 work days!

Re: For love nor money...
Fun place to base jump!
Saw in the distance dark clouds.. wondering why whoever owned it allowed the climb! even a storm far away can shoot lightning strikes over 20 miles away from the storms... Not for me... naaa.. just like riding over tall bridges, you get a shaking down below the belt... no way. Just imagine, that is how high the World Trade towers were. and people decided to JUMP from that height. Just think of how bad it must have been for them to choose that. god.. so sad...
