Nope. They said no demo will be released.

(i.e. they know NWN2 sucks, and don't want you to know it via a demo)

Considering they did release a demonstration for NeverWinter Nights (original), it is a little surprising. I do not remember if a demonstration model was released for the latest edition of The Elder Scrolls, or even (as far back as) Knights Of The Old Republic II. Usually demonstration models are churned out to incite interest and curiosity for those who may or may not be willing to (legally) purchase the game. I know most MMO games do not have a "demonstration" per se, but instead give a few days (up to two weeks) worth of free playing time for potential users (read: addicts or junkies to the digitial drug) to give the game a thorough workout. For a game that is relying heavily on internet hype (read: today's version of word of mouth) to sell itself, the lack of a playable demonstration model is distinctly disturbing and suspect.

Something else to figure in is the majority of discussions about the game tend to become very polarized VERY quickly. Not that such has not happened before, but this is not the latest edition of Grand Theft Auto: controversy is not this game's bread and butter. With all the ranting and raving, verbal jousting and jostling going on, one would think they could put an end to a host of the issues by just creating something for aspiring players to get a hold of and experience for themselves. Not so in the case of NeverWinter Nights 2. The only demonstrations players can get are downloadable movies - nothing which allows you to interact with the game at all. Sure, quite a few games have survived and thrived without the general public having a chance to stick their fingers in the gears before the release date. Some manufactures almost insist on keeping the public in the dark until a few moments before the project is due to come out just to keep up the suspense. However, given the fact the original game did give players an opportunity to experiment ahead of time, and the sheer amount of arguements concerning "completion" of the engine, the lack of a playable demonstration model is merely one of many concerns hosts of players have.

We will see what happens when it does finally come out.

And do you notice they only show the same area? They are very careful not to show anything else (video wise)..

I want to see OTHER tilesets (Dungeon and more).

If all they have is 1 Dungeon tileset for indoors, I will laugh my ass off...

All I can say is WAIT FOR REVIEWS OF NWN2 guys.. I am dead serious.

Agreed. I won't be rushing out to spend my limited assets on it until I know what to expect.

I have notice that with the exception of the dev journal and screen prints, nothing else has been updated on the oficial site. Shades of dungeon lords...........
I had all ready pre-purchased mine because I had a gift card that was going to expire. So I'll be one of the sacrificial lambs ( or maybe a lemming i don't know yet).

while Im not argueing with Z on this, but I rarely find reviews to be accurate. Most things the "reviewers" like, I would call piss poor attempts. Things that they hate, I tend to find good. Doesnt mater what type of review it is, movie, game, political party.. I'm waiting for the posts on the boards by those that buy it. Cant wait for how many doom and gloomers there are once it hits the selves. Thank god Wal-Mart has a great return Policy, as I expect lots of customers are going to need just that.

I tend to appreciate reviews given by people who deal with first-hand information: the nice people at EB Games. If nothing else, they'll get to here it straight from the customers themselves - and then they will tell me everything. Not every retail store has a hostility policy in place when it comes to dealing with other companies (or at least individual employees from companies) whom are "rivals" of a sort to them. Works out kind of nice when I think about it.

All in all, I find the way it's being handled to be mildly frightening. Updates on stuff, and a few new, more vibrant screens of the interface, etc would be a little soothing, to say the least. The reluctance to share this kind of stuff is indicative of a poor product, and we've all seen this kind of stuff in the past.

I find the lack of simple answers to specific questions more disconcerning than lack of screens. After following along on the forums for over a year now, they tend to ignore the qestions that are of great importance, and misdirect the ones they answer to the OC. Take for example, Many have asked Will there be a dedicated server, for NWN2. Its a simple YES or NO. So far the only responce has been burried in a different topic, with a "I dont Know, But I think So." and this is from a head developer. Its important to note, that lots of people have asked this one question, in several topics. Rather than answer it, we get the latest bit of info, that there is a diety system in place in the game. They do this with every question about Multi player. The fact that there is no Multi player forum on the boards should have been our first clue that we were being left out.
