Well the consensus on the poll is that cancelling guild quests isn't a cheat. So cancel cancel cancel. I will be a barbarian sooner, get more hp & also be able to reprobate or even arbitrage some gold sooner. Loumistro is starting to have an even better outlook to his future.
That bards quest at this early stage has been quite difficult, if I leave the rest of it until later I will find it easier.
I'll keep you posted on the adventures of Loumistro the barbarian.

Nah, WillowIX, you haven't called me that... that I've come across, at least. Although I think some of my comments about doing more indexing inspired something similar...

And LiOnHe@rT, thanks for clarifying on the Rogue guild. I haven't played in a couple of months, so I wasn't sure if they gave that promotion or not. Now I know more.

Loumistro level 12/13 wizard killed 4 mantraps last night. He only died once, he thought that there were only 3 mantraps near Ishad na. Salad with hot, very hot, sauce all round.
Lou is now a level barbarian thanks to Bungleau's superior use of mathmatics.

Cool! A fresh load of supplies for the salad bar! Jest bring 'em around the back...

And good luck, your barbarianship. Since switching to barbarian, I've had two levels of just one HP... can't wait until I get to the good stuff.

Well I finally got back to the game and finished the crypt. I've just switched my Wizard to Barbarian and am currently hunting small fry around Valeia so I can train between levels instead of ending up going up several levels at once. I'm also going back for all the chests I passed up before. I've discovered something particularly annoying about a solo character. No inventory space. I've had to swim back into the Asylum twice because I keep filling up my inventory before running out of chests and crates. I left the crates before too, because I was already carrying too much crap.

A note on the Boogre caves, when I went through before, the statue gave the giantstrike trait to both my ranger and my paladin at the time, so you don't have to be a barbarian to get it. Haven't decided yet if I'm going to run over there and do the caves as a barbarian this time, and come back for the Serpent Temple, or hit the caves much later as a paladin.

Now loumistro is a barbarian I will be back in the crypt searching chests. It is a shame he cant carry more but I will have to keep coming back to town to train anyway. Lou is in all the guilds except the temple now. I will be looking for an ankh of presence or will so that I can join at the temple.
At the moment I am stuck at work for a 38 hour shift so Loumistro cant adventure. He probably needs a well earned rest after getting poisoned so many times in the serpent temple.
What is your Whiska wizard called, Tator?

Algamesh's amulet.. ...AC Protection + 1...Protect Poison 50%...Cure Poison Spell, 4 charges.

IMHO....it's the best piece of jewerly, you get...early in the game.
Especially if your playing solo and/or No cheats...

A word of warning... ..if you use, all 4 charges...the amulet Will disappear.
Also...IIRC...there is no way to Recharge it, when it gets down to 1.
Also the Amulet of Life is also valuable to, 4 resurrect charges and then it disappears. you can find it in the Serpent Temple, which is very usefull later on when u meet Xydusa. before i never used it but it came in handy when half my party was dead or stone.

That amulet of life is not much use if you are on a solo quest. Who is gonna cast it on you?
Bungleau, you were correct, I just got a 28hp rise at level 10 even though Loumistro was a level 13 wizard.
Loumistro has now completed nearly all the Valeia quests except for the orb of clarity. He is in the serpents temple again, still looking for the 4th monky figurine. I dont want him to kill the gypsy, just for a change, so I will find the serpent wand. Algameshes locket has made life a lot easier because it resists poison 50%.
Scabbans apprentices were an epic battle. It was a very near thing, they chased Lou all over the place as he hit them with flamestrike & lightening whenever he had enough mana. The last of them was killed with his 2 handed sword +1.
One problem Lou had was that he couldn't use mana potions. Can anyone suggest why not? He has no problems with other types of potions.
