Have you tried in safe mode yet? Somewhere in the boot process you have to hit F8 to enter safe mode. I don't know when exactly but if you keep hitting it works for me. Then you probably can delete them.

It looks like this guy has the same problem.

http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...;f=10;t=022010

You're gonna have to discover the names of the program keeping them up there and take it out first before deleting those icons. Try searching for the underlying program.

Ok, I found someone having a similar problem here:
http://www.gpforums.co.nz/showthread...4&pagenumber=1

And this is what he/she said they did to fix it:
Quote:
Ok yay. Ive fixed the random icon problem. It was MSN plus, but that weird cuz i dont use MSN anymore either, just Trillian. Anyways if you are reading this and planning to get MSN plus, DO NOT get it.
When i installed it, it gave me 100+ spywares, then these random icons and when i uninstalled today, it pulled more spywares out of its ass before dying.
Thank God for Spybot - Search and Destroy
Make sure to use spybot in additon to Adaware:

I scanned with both Ad-Aware and Spybot - Search&Destroy but the icons are still there. ATM I am running Avast.

Have you gone into your startup and looked at the names of every program set up in there?

Can you identify each one?
Try typing the names of each unkown startup program into google.
If one of them is a bad one,
you'll find out and then can begin your counter attack.

Or you could do a system restore.

That would also work.
