Actually DC f(3)>Druid is not bad if you're playing easy or hard. I did an experiment with a ranger/cleric multi vs a ranger(7)>cleric. No shields armed with hammer.

From a power-gaming point of view, there is little reason not to choose a C/R over a R->C. Unlike other IE-Engine games, if you do not level up the Ranger aspect of the character, you will not gain access to the Druidic spells and this is where the Dualclass option fails badly.

I know. I was trying to say member #2 has fair fighting abilities and faster spell progression in a normal/hard game. That's about 2.5/3m exp per member of a party of 6 (i think). If one prefers more spells than fighting abilities at limited exp then this be it.
Also, shouldn't #2 be a C/R and #4 be a F(3)>Druid? |

Yes. It was said already that R/D is not an option for IWD. And for a multiclass cleric, there's really no point in taking a fighter instead of a ranger. The fighter takes less XP to level up, and that's the only advantage it has. Ranger, of course, gets the extra attack/round when not using a shield (also works with two-handed weapons, for some strange reason), stealth, tracking, and druid spells.
In terms of comments on the mc-dc comparison, I'm surprised the fighting skills were that close. However, it goes to show that a dc at lvl 7 is far superior to a dc at lvl 3, if only for the extra 1/2 ApR. Otherwise, the dc lvl 3 tops out its ApR at 2.5, and the mc becomes a better warrior as soon as it hits lvl 7 ranger.

A single class mage will have very little hit points and little spells early in the game.

What iam afraid of is having too many multiclasses. I know that they merely merely lag behind few levels but i dont want to divide into too many classes. And regarding the ,age, i read that several players went through the game without one. So what do you suppose? mage/thief? gnome illusionist/thief? I have a thief/fighter already. Fighter/mage? Or what?

Or you could try experimenting. Just leave behind the X multiclasses + Y dual-classes and play the game to have fun. You don't need HoF-mode planning to beat the game, and it will be more fun without carefully plotting out every mechanic in the game.
