I just converts it into digital though bro.
It's like converting an oven baked meal into a microwave dinner.

Yes, but then the potential is there to put it all on the 'net.

As an inferior copy, yes. It's not the same thing as ripping CDs.

Thumbs Up Re: Anti-piracy or anti-customer ?

I own an Ion, they make a good product. I got the portable version which cost me around $100 usd. Everything I have on Vinyl I also have in a digital format so I didn't do much more than test it's ripping capabilities.

I think this type of product increases legit customers and brings more dollars to artists simply because vinyl shoppers don't mind paying a decent amount for music and there is a huge amount of personal passion involved with the product.

Except that there's much less profit margin, so you need to sell a lot to make it more than just a passion endeavor.

They should have come out with those turntables much sooner. Practically nobody has vinyl anymore.

It is still tempting though. You can pick records up for a song these days.

"Golden-eared audiophiles have long testified to vinyl's warmer, richer sound."

I agree with this. There's nothing "inferior" about it.

Perhaps you misunderstood me? Converting the unlimited bandwith of a vinyl record into an mp3 creates an inferior product Variol. The mp3 is the inferior product, not the vinyl record...

Conversely if you rip a CD you're ripping digital into digital, there's far less quality difference. Especially if it's an aif or any professional file above an mp3.
